Renaissance what?

I've had this blog running in my head for a while now ... Last year, when I was 49, I recognized it as my 50th year on the planet and decided that there were some things I wanted to do before I turned 50. For a variety of reasons, I was unsuccessful and as I approached my 50th birthday last January, I was feeling like I had failed. Failed myself, mostly, which I tend to take less seriously than failing someone else. (Yes, there are probably years of therapy still ahead of me ...)

But as my birthday drew closer, my perception changed. I stopped thinking about what I should accomplish before the big 5.0, and started thinking about how I might launch "the second half" of my life. I started thinking about what I wanted to learn and try and do. And I realized that I was really viewing my 50th as a re-birth, a renaissance.

So ... having finally figured out how to edit a previously boring blog title, and with four months left in my Renaissance 5.0, let the blogging begin.
